Reel to Trip ("Reel to Trip", "we", "us") operates the website at reeltotrip.com and the associated Instagram account. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact privacy@reeltotrip.com.

The legal entity operating Reel to Trip and its registered address are stated at the end of this policy.

We collect only what we need to turn your reels into trips:

• Reels you submit. The Instagram reel links you paste or forward to us, and the content our AI extracts from them — place names, captions, locations, categories and related details.
• Your Instagram username, if you provide it. We use it as your account identifier and to match reels you forward by DM to your trips. We do not receive your Instagram password.
• A device identifier stored in your browser, which keeps your trips associated with you without requiring an account.
• Trip data you create — destinations, travel dates, and itineraries generated from your saved places.
• Technical and usage data — IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and error logs, collected automatically to operate and secure the service.
• Communications — messages you send us by email or Instagram DM.

We do not intentionally collect special-category data (such as health, religion or precise geolocation of you personally), and we ask that you don't submit it.

We use your data to:

• Provide the service — read the reels you send, extract places, enrich them with map and location data, and build your trips and itineraries.
• Maintain your trips and associate them with your device or Instagram identifier.
• Operate, secure, debug and improve the service.
• Respond to your messages and support requests.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. See our Do Not Sell or Share page.

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on these legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the service you request); legitimate interests (to secure, maintain and improve the service, balanced against your rights); consent (for non-essential cookies/analytics, which you can withdraw at any time); and legal obligation where the law requires it.

We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf to deliver the product, under contracts that limit them to that purpose:

• Cloud hosting & database — to store your trips and run the application.
• AI processing providers — to analyse the reels you submit and extract places.
• Mapping & places services — to resolve and enrich locations (for example, geocoding a venue to a point on a map).
• Meta / Instagram — when you forward reels to our Instagram account, we process the message through Meta's platform to identify the reel and the sender.
• Analytics & error monitoring — to understand aggregate usage and diagnose problems (subject to your cookie choices).

We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or in connection with a merger or acquisition (in which case we'll notify you).

Our providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum), or an adequacy decision.

We keep your trips and associated places for as long as your account/device remains active so the service works for you. You can delete a reel or trip at any time in the app, and you can ask us to delete everything associated with you. We keep minimal logs for security and legal purposes for a limited period, after which they are deleted or anonymised.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email privacy@reeltotrip.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

India. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may access, correct, update and erase your personal data, nominate someone to exercise your rights, and raise a grievance with us. Contact privacy@reeltotrip.com and we will respond within the timeframe the law requires.

California residents have specific rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined; see Do Not Sell or Share. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Reel to Trip is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. For detail on how, see our Security page. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We'll change the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
